Ball-by-ball growth

There's an anime called "Haikyuu!!" about high school volleyball. Though it might not sound interesting initially, it is one of the best things I've watched in my life. The show is full of optimism and demonstrates how one can improve themselves over time.

In volleyball, there's a saying that you should focus on the ball in front of you instead of worrying about the entire match—taking it one ball at a time. The characters gradually improve their skills in areas where they are not particularly strong, which translates to every part of life. Focusing on one problem at a time and recognizing that everything can be improved with enough practice is refreshing.

The diversity of characters is vast, and you can learn a lot from each one of them. In my opinion, the show is essentially life philosophy masked under high school volleyball.

David Foster Wallace once said,“You just keep going. You just keep trying to get better. You just keep trying to move the ball forward. One inch at a time”. This quote perfectly encapsulates the spirit of "Haikyuu!!".
